When Verdell Comes To Visit is a children's book about the friendship between a dragon named Verdell and a little boy. Clayton J. Liotta gives Verdell the dragon an unique personality. Verdell is a dragon who loves to cook and play on swings.  He is also a dragon who likes to shop and has an extensive knowledge of trees. Clayton Liotta makes a dragon a friendly and lovable character.  Liotta completely changes the way the way that dragons are perceived by children with this book.  There is an illustration of Verdell racing on a shopping cart that is funny to look at.  My three year old nephew loves the illustration of the gorilla who rejects vanilla ice cream.  Every last word of each line rhymes with the last word from the next line.  This makes the book fun to read aloud to my nephew. This is another book that will get children to adopt a love of reading. I love this book.
