I love this new website I came across called the smittenkitchen.com I love this woman's approach to cooking- she does it out of a tiny New York city apartment and does really great foods that are gourmet-like without the pretention (which I can always do without)!
I came across it because I was trying to find a homemade version of a granola bar to make for my son and me. I wanted to do without so much sugar and have no high-fructose corn syrups etc. I also find the store bought brands (Whole Foods, Trader Joes) delicious but pricey and sometimes too sweet. Here she has a very versatlie Chewy Granola Bar recipe that is so simple! I found it a month ago and have probably made, froze and eaten 4 batches already! I mean you can make rolled oats, flaxseed, walnuts, dried berries and coconut taste like dessert but eat it for breakfast without the guilt! And the great thing, I made it into granola as well and my 18mo. old son had it in his yogurt this morning and loves it that way!
I recommend it to anyone looking for something different, fun and kept simple! Hope you check it out and find something you like about it like I did!

I just got a recipe for baked kale chips and I'll have to try that chewy granola bar recipe. Thanks so much for sharing, Katie! What a gem of a blog :)
