As an engagement gift from my awesome sister and best friend, Julian and I got a one-year subscription to the "Bacon of the Month Club." Clearly, they know us well. Every month, we recieve a package of artisan bacon as well as a suggested recipe and wine pairing and a fun bacon newsletter from The Grateful Palate, as well as a cool bacon t-shirt (mine says "I Got Porked By The Grateful Palate"), a pig nose and a ballpoint pig pen.

Half the fun of the Bacon of the Month Club is anticipating when your next package of bacon-y goodness will arrive, and opening the insulated, cold-packed package that comes to your door. the other half of the fun is eating it, of course. This month, we got New Braunfels Smokehouse Peppered Bacon, which was seriously delicious, both in the recipe included for peppered bacon-wrapped hot dogs (with blue cheese and tomatoes) and by itself. I can't wait to see what delicious pig-parts come in our next shipment!

The only downside to the BotM Club is the price. At $315 a year, it's a bit pricey, but it does really make a "wow" gift for someone and it's something that everyone (except maybe vegetarians and people who keep kosher) will appreciate. And it makes all your friend jealous of you. It's true, bacon really does go with everything.

The Grateful Palate also has a whole website of bacon goodies, including bacon-lover apparel, pretty much anything bacon-flavored you could ever want, bacon christmas ornaments and even a bacon air freshener. Y'know, for the times that your house isn't filled with the smell of cooking bacon. Mmmm.

Mmmm bacon. This sounds so much better than Harry and David's Fruit of the Month Club! My only hope if I join this is that a bacon alarm clock arrives in the mail :)

Now, THIS is something different....I love your review and I love bacon....just had some this morning, but I had no idea there was a bacon of the month club. That's wild! I'm definitely going to check this bacon thing out.....nice review.
