Are you a chocoholic? Are you also a fan of Pringles? Then the Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate Crisps are for you! Oh no, do I sound like a commercial?

I am not really a fan of potato chips, but I am loving the look of this ingenious dessert. Well, on its own it might be just a snack, but it can be an addition to a great dessert. These cute crisps are shaped just like Pringles and come in a tall box with three serving in it. Each serving is twelve chips, but you might not even eat that much. Though I'll admit it is hard to stop. The chocolate chips are placed in a plastic tray, sealed in cellophane. This means that you get whole pieces, well protected in transit and no broken parts. They are made in Belgium, so the high quality of chocolate is to be expected. They also come in a Milk Chocolate variety if you are not a fan of dark - though it is only about 57% dark, so you might like it even if you think you would not. The ingredients are not exactly the healthiest, but dark chocolate is good for you in moderation.

You can eat them as is, fine by me. You probably will not be able to hold back once you open the package anyway. But I suggest having some more fun with these!

You could use them to top an ice cream sundae or gelato 'a la haute cuisine'
Use them the way you would use chips for salsa, but instead try whipped cream with bits of strawberries or a caramel fondue (as if they are not sweet enough already!)
Pretend you are a skilled pastry chef and decorate a birthday cake you made from scratch
Make kids eat more fruit by making a fruit salad and topping it with these, though there is no guarantee they would not eat the crisps first! Hm, you could bury them at the bottom ;)
Float a piece in your honey's morning coffee for an instant drab day pick-me-up
For a party you could finely chop together strawberries, add blueberries, raspberries, and perhaps blackberries, mix with whipped cream, and put a scoop in each Dark Chocolate Crisp for a two-bite size dessert. Great presentation!
Keep them with you at work (away from co-workers as there isn't enough to share ;) for a quick snack mid-morning or after your lunch
Pack your kids' lunch with a few of these for dessert, it will keep them alert and energized for the second part of the day
...or you could just eat them right out of the box
Did I mention you can eat them right out of the box?
Perhaps when nobody is looking ;)

The funny thing is, if you compare these to Pringles nutritionally, you would be better off with this chocolate version. Hole in one for chocoholics everywhere!

I'm not into chocolate per se but when it comes to good chocolate, esp. the dark ones, well, I'm hooked! Good thing I can't get them in this part of the world. Else, gone are my wardrobes! ;-)

That's 100% right... trouble is I love all kinds of food as you can well see from all the recent food reviews ;p Worse still, I recently got hooked on cakes! It's very difficult to lose the pounds as one gets older :(
