Star Trek character who served aboard the Enterprise from 2267 up till 2271.

Christine Chapel was head nurse aboard the Enterprise from 2267 till at least 2271, which by then she recieved her pHd and was a Doctor. Later transferred to Starfleet Command.

Nurse Chapel was too much the traditional love-sick female character to be all that worthy of inclusion in the series. She uttered an occasional fluttery line about problems and McCoy had to firmly tell her what to do. Her love for Spock and his inability to respond made her one character that many viewers found distasteful. Her character would have been more appropriate if she had at least once told McCoy off or stood up to him about his hounding of Spock.

I remember reading in Shatner's Star Trek Memories learning about hearing about Majel getting the job being involved with Roddenberry, and lamented that at least she had some acting talent unlike a lot of creators mistresses of the day. She, to me always felt like an add on because of this.
