is absolutely charming. Adam Sandler's girlfriend (Drew Barrymore) loses her short-term memory, so he must find a way to save their relationship when she doesn't remember it. Of course, it's totally unrealistic, but nonetheless heart-warming. This is a light-hearted movie and doesn't really get philosophical about amnesia and love, but it's good for a relaxing date movie. The movie also has adorable penguins and walruses and other animals, which make great supporting characters. … more

... could be cut and re-edited in arbitrary sequences and nobody would notice. Sandler is the apotheosis of the one-trick pony, the actor who is always exactly the same character in every film. In short, he doesn't act at all; like Yahweh, he just 'is that he is.' Take a look at the expression on the face of Ms Barrymore in the picture on the DVD cover; that's exactly how I look when I find myself watching another Adam Sandler film. Unfortunately, my teenage son and my two … more
Adam Sandler's movies are oh so goofy. His idea of humor can be annoyhing at times. However, intermixed between all the childish behavior is that true love is oh so beautiful. And Sandler does show his vulnerable side. Fortunately this movie is relatively short because it is not long on depth. Nonetheless, the characters are all kind of amusing. If you are in the mood for something not overly ellaborate and light-hearted, this flick will fit the bill.
This is quite simply a very enjoyable film. It's not, perhaps, a great film, but it is fun and it left me feeling pleasantly content. Drew Barrymore and Mr. Sandler had worked together before to surprisingly good results. They show an easy chemistry between them that serves the movie well. The idea of making Adam Sandler an aquarium doctor offers a lot of possibilities; his scenes with the walrus are hilarious. The first 5 to 10 minutes do seem a little out of place: I understand … more
50 First Dates could never quite figures out whether it wants to be a slapstick comedy or a romantic comedy, and really never works at being either. The first half of the movie is tedious and mostly boring, although it does redeem itself slightly by the end as it gets legs and becomes actually interesting for the last half hour or so. Adam Sandler plays your stereotypical playboy flitting from one woman to the next until one day he espies a cute woman played by Drew Barrymore. … more
Pros: Great story, great actor chemistry, mix of (good) emotions Cons: Some minor "reality" flaws The Bottom Line: A great movie for a date. Filled with laughter, it will please anyone.
Pros: Excellent casting; Story tugs on the heart strings; some funny bits Cons: More sad/serious than funny, and audiences aren't prepared for it. The Bottom Line: If you're going to see it, wait for video. It's really nothing spectacular. There are a lot of better movies playing right now. This is an entry into the Epinions Before & After Valentine's Day Write-Off. I went to see 50 First Dates after dinner at Mamma Lombardi's … more

Pros: Great Chemistry between Sandler and Barrymore, some good laughs. Cons: Some crude humor now and then may put viewers off. I was ok with it. The Bottom Line: A great Date movie and more than a few laughs. Aquatic Vet Henry Roth (Adam Sandler) seems to have it all. He has a great job working at the local aquarium, a loyal best friend named Ula (Rob Schneider), and tons of gorgeous ladies for him to romance. … more
