It is not my favorite film by my favorite director, but it is still expertly shot and Kubrick still elevates what can be done with film. It is a important story that man fashioned by society is not always better.
A Clockwork Orange was based upon a novel of the same name. It's a nihilistic film about a bleak totalitarian future where violence is the norm and the youth are uncontrollable. When this film was made, the sixties were making way to the seventies and violence on the screen was becoming more prevalent. I've never read the book, but I bet many others have not either, though I had read a lot of reviews about `A Clockwork Orange' before seeing it, basically because I was unable to see it.
