Amelia is a 2009 dramatized biographical film of the life of Amelia Earhart, starring Hilary Swank as Earhart along with a cast that includesRichard Gere, Christopher Eccleston[2] and Ewan McGregor. It is directed by Mira Nair based on a script initially written by Ronald Bass. The screenplay was largely based on research utilizing authoritative sources such as East to the Dawn by Susan Butler and The Sound of Wings by Mary S. Lovell. To date, the film has garnered predominately negative reviews.
I was very disappointed with this film. It had a good cast (Swank and Gere) and I generally like these biopics (ex. The Aviator with Leonardo DiCapprio). I found most of this movie incredibly boring and very little insight was presented about Amelia the person. In the 1930s, Amelia Earhart was a pioneering woman pilot. She married a man who helped promote her flights. She went missing on the last leg of a round-the-world flight in 1937. That's all I got from the movie, which is shockingly bad and instantly forgettable. Earhart was a national figure followed by millions, yet you'd never know why from this tepid film. I've seen Biopic's on allot of famous and infamous people of the 20th century, Public Enemies(John Dillinger), Aviator(Howard Hughes), Schindler's List(Oskar Schindler), Iron jawed Angel(Alice Paul).
