Blackboard Jungle is about and idealistic teacher (Glen Ford) who has a job teaching at one of the worst schools in the city. His unruly students led by Artie (Vic Morrow) and company drive the teacher batty. But when the thugs hit too close to home and wear out teacher's patience, it's time for the trash to be taken out.
Sidney Poitier co-stars as Gregory, a rough-around-the-edges kid who's really a swell dude along with Jamie Farr (billed as Jameel Farah), Paul Mazursky and Anne Francis.

A sappy but interesting time period piece. One big thing that came out of this movie was the theme song "Rock around the Clock" was a huge hit and one of the cornerstones of the rock n' roll movement. If you want to see a classic melodrama featuring greasers, bad eggs and idealistic teachers then this is the granddaddy of them all, The Blackboard Jungle.  A grindhouse remake of this film was Class of 1984.  If you enjoy Blackboard Jungle then you'll want to check that one out along with The Principal.
Sometimes you just have to take out the trash. Sometimes you just have to take out the trash. Sometimes you just have to take out the trash. Sometimes you just have to take out the trash.
