An OK film with a many-times used plot and some hammy acting

Randolph Scott plays an ex-army hero who was hired by Colt to sell their new repeating pistols, guns that we call six shooters. He is in the midst of a sale to a sheriff when a robber grabs the guns, wounds the sheriff, and escapes. He uses the new weapons to gather a gang and commit many robberies. Scott is blamed for helping the robber escape with the two guns and serves a four month jail sentence. When he is released, he vows to catch the robber, now called the Colt .45 robber, who has a $5,000 reward for his capture.

Scott comes across one of the gang's robberies. They shoot several Indians before the robbery, disguise themselves as Indians, and plan to rob a stage coach, and blame the Indians. Scott helps one of the Indians, the only survivor, who turns out to be the chief, who promises to help Scott in the future. Scott goes through several adventure, including saving the stagecoach in a shootout, trying to escape the town people who think he is the Colt .45 robber, being saved by the Indians when he rides into an ambush and another time when the robbers capture him, relations with Ruth Roman who plays the wife of a gang member (Lloyd Bridges), and further help by the Indians when he rides into town to capture the Colt .45 robber and his gang. The plot has been used in many cowboy films and its use here is not remarkable. It is somewhat hammy, including times when the Indian extras don't seem to know what to do.
