Pros: Insider look at politics - Pro Feminist Film

Cons: Murky, a bit slow

I saw this film for the sole reason of Gary Oldman plain and simple. I've been a fan of his ever since Sid & Nancy many years ago. Gary is almost unrecognizable in this picture especially with the American accent and terrible hair. His role was memorable as ever.

The gist of this film is that women get a raw deal in politics. An alleged sexual romp many years ago drags the Vice Presidential candidate through the mud.

Would a man get the same treatment....speculations could go either way but this film tends to think not. The main character (Joan Allen) is a powerful Senator who has been tapped to fill the slot of the Vice President.

The behind the scenes of politics can be dark and disturbing but as equally fascinating.

A pretty good solid film. I could see how folks could lose interest in this if they weren't political junkies.
