*** out of ****      Let's face it: there are more pretentious action flicks than there are entertaining action flicks. That is because action films often lack substance, and instead focus more on mayhem and violence than characters and plot. "Crank" is nearly one of those movies, but it's got enough style and violence to make up for whatever narrative flaws it has. "Crank" is a film which never stops to make sense; it's a film built around madness. …

CRANK is the sort of movie that is not only review-proof, it is almost laughable to try to review it. It is movie that is virtually devoid of any of the more intangible qualities we look for when we go to a movie: coherent plot, logical characters, the ability to guess how much time is passing, etc.  It tells the story of a hitman named Chev Chelios (Jason Statham) who has apparently run afoul of a local (Los Angeles) crime syndicate and has been injected with a drug that will kill him …

Pros: Nothing!, Well okay Amy Smart in seriously tight panties.      Cons: Everything else...     The Bottom Line: Far too many movies coming out of Hollywood these days are like Crank: soulless, poorly written, overly violent, obtuse, foul mouthed caricatures of American society.     Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie''s plot. Sometimes you start watching a movie and think yourself that this one is going to …

I thought this movie was decent but my husband heavily enjoyed it of course. Its "B" type movie, not a serious, not a critic movie. It is a movie for the people with a simple plot that allows great, heart-pumping action. Crank starts off with superficially appealing opening titles over glass-shattering rock music, and once the movie starts going, it presents itself as an obvious entry in the race-against- time category of movies. Despite points where I would either drastically change a scene or …

I am all for action movies, adrenaline pumped stunts and combat is something I enjoy but this movie was not in my taste at all. I was surprised really, it appeared to be a fast paced action movie but instead the music was incredibly loud and very bad, some of the scenes were filmed with really annoying shaking filmed over cartoon like filters and the actor didn't really win my sympathy. He tried too hard to be cool with his raspy voice but really left me feeling like I was watching a juvenile cartoon …

`Crank' is a frenetic, cutting-edge ride through the streets of Los Angeles. Starring Jason Statham (remember him as the villain in `Cellular'?) as Chev Chelios, we have a novel plot that fuels an adrenaline adventure that at first seems to find any excuse to revel in sex and violence. The editing (courtesy Brian Burda) of this remarkable romp is simply superb. And, although not a comedy, the biggest laughs easily outdo the best jokes in movies like 'There's Something About Mary'. (There's one scene …

Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor may be fairly new at the game of writing and directing as a team, but if CRANK is any indication of what they can do, they probably have the genre sewn up! Definitely not a film for the squeamish or the easily offended by potty mouth dialog, CRANK delivers its own brand of breakneck action and very funny comedic outtakes into a platform for the likes of Jason Statham, so well remembered for his role in Transporter/s, and a cast that gives him fine support.    Chev …
