Hey Mom what's wrong with Cujo?

Cujo was the jump start of a cavalcade of Hollywood productions that were based upon the writings of Stephen King. A few movies were made before Cujo, But after it's theatrical release came the deluge. The eighties was a financial boon for Stephen King. His popularity soared to unheard of heights with his books flying off the shelves and being adapted into movies as soon as (or sometimes before) the novels were released.

Cujo is about a boy named Tad who's scared of a monster that lives in his closet. It's also about a carefree Saint Bernard who one day whilst chasing a rabbit is bitten on his snout by a bat. His master's (another kid named Brett Camber) father Joe is a grease monkey who owns a garage out of his home. There's a bit of soap opera intrigue as well. The mother of Tad is unfaithful and the father is oblivious.  One day Tad's father leaves town on a business trip and Brett and his mom visit her family upstate leaving Joe home alone with Cujo (who's starting to act funny). The next day Tad's mother's pinto begins to act funny so They both go to the Cambers to see if he can fix the problem...

Another one of the flawed Stephen King adaptations that people find so exciting. I was disappointed by it and I don't consider it a horror "classic". Read the book instead because the movie is just another pedestrian adaptation of Stephen King's earlier classic novels.
