Honestly, I am not a big fan of Philippine cinema. However, I have to admit, even with all the bad movies that come out that cater to the public's tastes, there are some hidden gems.
Going through my old VHS tapes, I found the hidden low-budget action gem "Dugong Buhay" (translated: "Life Blood") which was a major box-office hit in Asia when it was released in 1982. The film stars real-life father and son duo Ramon and Bong Revilla who plays father and son in this story.
An evil father and a noble son. Director Carlo J. Caparas pits the father-son action stars in a struggle for supremacy; one fights for his own gain and greed while the other fights for something much more. A great "Pinoy" film that should be remembered as one of the all-time best from the Philippines. Too bad the movie has no English subtitles. [4-Out of 5 Stars]
