ER - Season 10 was a long time coming.   They have branched out more this season, going between the Congo and County General, Chicago.  As in past seasons, a new group of students fall into place and not always with the best results.  They continue to offer us a full range of actors and outstanding guest appearances.

Season 10 episodes include:
Now What?
Carter, back from his duty in the Congo, goes to Abby's bedside only to get a chilled reception.   New med student, Neela Rasgotra, joins the staff, quickly catching the wandering eye of Dr. Pratt, much to Dr. Chen's dismay.   As if they don't have enough chaos in the ER, it is under renovation.  A call from the Congo leads Carter back to Africia to retrieve Luka's body.

Parminder Nagra joins as Neela Rasgotra

The Lost
Carter has to travel to dangerous ground to locate Luka's body but is soon delighted to discover the rebel troops mistook Luka for a priest and spared his life.  He is, however, gravely ill and Carter arranges for him to be transported back to Chicago.  In the meantime he makes an important decision that will change his medical, and personal, life.

Dear Abby
When Luka arrives in Chicago, accompanied by his girlfriend Gillian, she gives Abby a letter from Carter.  He tells her in the letter he has decided to remain in the Congo.  Romano discovers his insurance won't cover a decent prosthetic arm and has to deal with a claw instead, which often has a mind of its own.  New 2nd year residents arrive including Nick Cooper who immediately has run-ins with Romano.

Scott Grimes joins the cast as Dr. Archie Morris

Shifts Happen
Pratt, left in charge on a busy night, makes a mistake with a patient.  Abby is considering returning to med school to become a doctor.

Out of Africa
Fiesty single mom, Nurse Samantha Taggart, joins the staff with her curious son, Alex in tow.  Dr. Lewis treats a patient, Ben Hollander, an architect, for degenerating eyesight and forms an immediate bond with him.

Bob Newhart guest stars as Ben Hollander
Linda Cardellini joins the staff as Nurse Samantha Taggart

The Greater Good
After seeing the oppressive conditions and lack of medical supplies in Africa, Luka becomes obsessed with treating patients quickly and efficiently, which doesn't always bode well with others.  Dr. Lewis and Ben Hollander spend private time together and Luka meets Samantha's son, Alex.

Death and Taxes
Things are going well for Dr. Lewis: she misses and IRS auditor appointment, Chuck discusses having children, and Ben Hollander commits suicide, leaving her a note.  Luka is shadowed for the day by Sam's son, Alex, Dr. Chen gets a call from the Chinese embassy letting her know her parents were severely injured in an accident, and best yet, Sam unscrews Romano's wandering hand and Dr. Lewis locks it up for the day.

It's Thanksgiving Day and Romano is at his wits end dealing with Pratt and Morris.  He finds Morris smoking pot in the ambulance bay and, after an argument, fires both Pratt and Morris.  However, when he is in the operating room and cannot perform his duties, he rushes outside to the ambulance bay to recover his sanity.

In what can only be described as an "Oh Sh.." moment, Romano looks to the Heavens for mercy only to see a helicopter falling over the side of the roof of the hospital where it immediately crashes into the ambulance bay.  If you will recall, Romano's arm was severed by a helicopter when he pushed his way forward with his 'more important' patient, some time back.  As chaos ensues, everyone is wondering where Romano is and it is a couple of days before the debris is removed and his body is discovered.

Essentially, now, with Romano gone, Pratt and Morris are free and clear.  Dr. Lewis fears her husband, Chuck, was the EMT on the helicopter.   Luka, Sam, and Alex have Thanksgiving dinner.

Kerry insists a memorial service be given for Romano but Dr. Corday is the only one that attends.  Sam and Luka argue over his attention to her son, Dr. Gallant's sister is in town causing a riff between him and Pratt, and Alex steals a severed finger.

Carter, still in the Congo, has met and fallen for an AIDS worker, Makemba.  When he uses his influence to have much needed supplies shipped to him, he earns her wrath but it quickly cools off when she discovers she is pregnant.  Since he must return to Chicago to settle his grandmothers estate, he convinces her to accompany him and have the baby in the US.

Thandie Newton joins the crew as Makemba 'Kem' Likasu

Touch & Go
Back in Chicago, there is an awkward moment when Kem and Abby meet.  Sam has more trouble with Alex.  Pratt accidentally breaks a patients neck and missing Valium is discovered in Kerry's labcoat even though Morris is catching the heat for it.

Abby & Neela are assigned to their rotation in the neonatal intensive care unit where Abby excels, due to her prior position as an OB/GYN nurse.

Get Carter
Dr. Gallant is almost shot during a domestic incident and Kerry dedicates a center to Romano.

Impulse Control
Sam treats an abused, pregnant teen; Makemba discovers snow AND severe winters in Chicago.

Blood Relations
An entire family is overcome with carbon monoxide and Neela has to spend time in a hyperbaric chamber with the couple's newborn baby, discovering she is highly claustrophobic.    Kem has returned to the Congo to work but promises she will return in plenty of time for the babies birth.  Chen returns from China with her father, who needs 24 hour care.   Dr. Lewis discovers she is pregnant.

Forgive and Forget
After Morris streets an angry patient, the patient steals an Army tank and drives the streets of Chicago wrecking havoc on his way to the ER and Morris.   Desk attendant, Frank, who you either love or hate, has a heart attack and all are shocked to discover he is married and has a daughter in her 20's with Downs Syndrome.

The Student
When Neela gives the wrong medication, Gallant covers for her and takes the blame, fueling their budding relationship.   Chen's home nurse resigns because of his abusive behavior; Chuck punches out a guy a little too interested in Susan's pregnancy; and a flasher makes the mistake of meeting up with the wrong group of Catholic school girls ... twice!

Where There's Smoke
Kerry's girlfriend, Sandy, a fireman, is overcome at a raging fire and soon dies.  It gets worse when Sandy's family tries to take away their son, Henry.   Gallant gives the news the Army is returning him to Iraq.  Sam's ex shows up on the scene, causing problems for her and Luka.  Abby fails her medical boards and is ready to chuck it all and Dr. Lewis is put on bedrest for the balance of her pregnancy.

Just A Touch
Pratt is accused of harassment by a patient after he gives her a breast exam.  Abby is on psych rotation, which seems to suit her as well and Neela has moved to research rotation, which suits her also since she doesn't do well dealing with patients.   Abby discovers Carter paid her med school tuition.

Abby Normal
Still on psych, Abby helps a young mother who had lost a child in the past.  Neela saves the life of a fellow researcher.   Kem returns to Chicago and Carter tells the board of directors for the Carter Foundation, which he now heads, that they will switch their focus from arts and entertainment to medicine.

When they realize the baby is no longer moving, Carter and Kem make a trip to the hospital.   Frank has returned from his bypass and Rachel, Mark Greene's daughter, pays a visit.

Luka helps and mother and son whose car broke down and it appears that Chen is being battered by her father.

This was a fairly long and complex season.  The Romano incident, dag, that was just rude.  As always, new relationships form and old ones separate.  New faces, new stories, and the ever pulsating heart of the ER make this a dramatic, interesting, and time relevant series.
