Squandered Opportunity

I knew what I was getting into when I rented this film. No devoted enthusiasm for the likes of Fellini, Tarkovsky or Imamura can dull my dedication to genre craftsman John Carpenter, and when his name is emblazoned on a package, I know to turn my brain off and enjoy its fun. "DUDE!! It's like biggerer and betterer then the first one!" T'CHYA!! RIGHT!!

Heres a quick story about how much I love the original Escape from New York. I bought it on VHS and then the next year on barebones DVD and then a few years later updated the BB DVD with a special collectors edition with an original opening I had never seen and yes, now it's on bluray and I'm getting it on that too and all of this AFTER I saw this so average it's average follow up 15 years later after the first movie was made. What Happened in Cleveland?

Having seen the original ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, I was hoping for a pretty good action adventure film in ESCAPE FROM L.A. What I got was a big disappointed. Basically, ESCAPE FROM L.A. is a mediocre copy of the first movie. The film contains a strain of dark comedy built around a lot of jokes, but I didn't find many of them funny (e.g. the whole "I thought you were taller" thing).
