Fast Food Nation I would rate as a good not great movie. It exposes the meat packing and food services industry as not all that sanitary and certainly not compassionate. The groups of teenagers, illegal immigrants, and phony and even unsavory corporate suits show the viewer that the all mighty dollar is king and many workers are just pawns in their universe.    There are some slow draggy moments in the film especially the border runs to pick up the illegal aliens. I really liked this film that has the effect of a documentary and makes one think not only about not eating in fast food restaurants but maybe being vegetarian instead. Great cameos by Bruce Willis and Ethan Hawke. The young Colombian actress from Maria Full of Grace has one of the main parts. The movie is about the fast food industry, the lack of sanitary conditions and the lack of humane conditions. Throw in some race issues, gender issues and men being chauvinistic pigs PLUS some lack of self-respect and this is the movie. I was dissapointed, this movie lacks a cohesive plot and all plots are left somewhat unresolved. They could have had a great movie had they carried out the plot better. Instead, the film debased each and every one of its characters to the vilest of actions and morality. …

FAST FOOD NATION got such minimal response in the theater run that it seemed to go straight to DVD. The PR for the film was such that it appeared to be 'hilariously funny' (according to the DVD box cover) and as such might just provide a bit of humor after a tumultuous day of work. WRONG! This little film adapted by Richard Linklater from Eric Schlosser's frightening book is agonizingly biting and insightful: if you elect to watch it, be prepared for some ugly facts that may just produce insomnia.    …
