Sleek and shiny, flashy and cool but sadly it's nothing more than that...

It's sleek, stylish, well thought out and has a good idea but this remake of the 1974 original is lackluster and boring at sometimes . Even the car chases are drawn out and dull, they don't get your adrenaline pumping all it does is just give you something flashy and cool to look at. But what it could have been was lost under the poor direction of Dominic Sena, the terrible script and acting that fluctuates from average to poor. Gone In Sixty Seconds will not engage you as much as you want and it certainly won't give you the action packed thrill ride you would expect. But "Gone in Sixty Seconds" is enjoyable in some ways and painful in others.
This Nicolas Cage, Jerry Bruckhiemer vehicle is an up beat film with a cool and vibrant cinematography style and gorgeous cars. But that's pretty much all it's got, this film tries so very very hard to be plausible and smart entertainment. But alas it is not. It has a brain but not a big enough one to support it's length or it's theme but I will give it credit it is smart enough to keep you interested but it won't win you over completely. All in all "Gone in Sixty Seconds" is highly charged and is suppose to come out fast and never stop, but instead it comes out slow and never speeds up.
Nicolas Cage is bland and not so tough as the smart and resourceful car thief Randall "Memphis" Raines but he does do well for the most part and that is enough to keep you satisfied with him as your anti-hero. But it is not enough for you to total believe him in the role. Angelina Jolie is a real annoyance and a complete and utter eyesore in this as the "sexy", car loving love interest to Nick Cage. Jolie is grungy and unappealing and annoying that you just want her to die before the film is even over. Robert Duvall is not as good as he use to be but he holds up quite well. As for the rest of the cast.. Well I'm going to leave that up for you to decide, but for the most part they do alright and hold up nicely under a poorly construed car theft caper.
But for the most part "Gone in Sixty Seconds" is a very forgettable chase thriller the only thing you'll really remember from it are the cars and a few slick action sequences but that's about it. It's go no real, true greatness in it but ti will entertain you and that is saying something but if your looking for a hot bloody car thriller I recommend you try out "The Fast and the Furious" for your fix. Because sadly this won't do it for you. All in all "Gone Sixty Seconds" is passing entertainment.
