4 ½ Stars: Christopher Nolan Creates a Dream Worth Watching...
After the highly-successful “The Dark Knight” which defined the way comic book movies should be made, one wouldn’t be hard-pressed to expect nothing but the best from Christopher Nolan. “INCEPTION” has generated a strong buzz ever since the trailer debuted in previews and the worldwide web; after all, this film is written and directed by Nolan himself and with his “Batman” team assisting in the film’s production, it seems like the …

Let me start by saying i don't watch many movies, I'm not a big sci fi buff, and as I'm getting older, maybe I'm just getting a little crotchety.  I'm very aware that by coming out and being the ONLY one Lunch who is giving Inception a negative rating, I'm opening myself up to a lot of questioning and judgment... but that's okay because I know the community will respect my differing opinion and not ridicule me for expressing it.  So here goes:      …

There's nothing quite like it! A Paradox!
I like to watch a movie that keeps me guessing what is happening, why it is progressing the way it is, where it is going & what is going to happen next. Inception is one such movie. It keeps the audience in suspense and guessing, anxious to KNOW what is ahead.       Dreaming is something that I had always been enchanted with all my life. It is through dreams that I see God the first time in my life! Yes, I’ve been fascinated by the reality of my dreams and the …

Stephanie's Favourite Movies: Inception      What's wrong with this movie? Nothing, that's what. This is a perfect movie, there's nothing wrong with it. I appreciated that it wasn't pandering to the lowest common denominator like most summer blockbusters do. It actually took a few brain cells to keep up with it. Of course, you don't have to be a genius to watch it and enjoy it, but you have to be kind of smart to understand it. It's that rare summer …

Inception is a rare breed of movie. Firstly, it came out in July and thus can classify as a summer blockbuster, and secondly, it does not insult the intelligence of the audience and actually takes a few brain cells to keep up with it. It's incredibly well-acted, it has an original story in a time when they are becoming harder and harder to come by, and it's a movie that will definitely be apperciated come awards time. It will probably win more awards for its technical accomplishments, and …

After the wild success of  The Dark Knight, Christopher Nolan reached the ranks of movie making freedom that so few directors reach.  So what did Christopher Nolan do with his golden key?  Made a movie he'd been wanting to make for ten years.  Inception.  A movie where your mind is the scene of the crime.  It's big, it's complex, it's beautiful... and it's absolutely amazing.  For those who are sick of adaptations, sequels and remakes, Inception …

Dreaming Without Meaning
INCEPTION Written and Directed by Christopher Nolan Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, Marion Cotillard and Michael Caine      Eames: If we’re going to perform inception, then we’re going to need imagination.    I knew there was a good reason I fought so hard every night to hold on to my conscious mind and not let my unconscious mind take over.  I’ve got to make sure no pesky extractors get in there to steal my highly …

Listen to the some of the awesome Hans Zimmer soundtrack while reading:            A film like Inception only comes along once a decade, and it's no surprise it took Writer/Director Christopher Nolan over ten years to polish the screenplay into its final form. The loud and frenetic visuals in the trailer all fall into place when you see the film, which represents a masterful blend of genres and ideas, some of which have been attempted before but never …

For months, just like everyone else on Earth, I've been hearing and seeing the buzz surrounding Christopher Nolan's newest film, Inception. However, due to time constraints caused by college and other personal matters, seeing the movie wasn't high on my list of priorities. Since I just got a mini vacation from college this week, I found some time to finally watch it, and I must tell you, the movie left me scratching my head. Now don't let that past sentence fool you. I wasn't …

INCEPTION      There was a lot of hype surrounding this movie when it was released and all I would hear from people was "you have see this flick". I skipped going to see it in theaters because most of the time I am let down when something is overly hyped. So like I do with a lot I waited until the DVD release to finally catch this film. I must say that I am glad I waited and let the hype factor die down because I did enjoy this movie. I also …

At present, both the demand for and expectations of Christopher Nolan's big-budget conceptual genre offerings are equally high, and he still hasn't failed to deliver. Nolan possesses a rare talent for presenting difficult concepts and elaborate plot devices in a wholly accessible fashion; as a result, he's one of very few living Anglophone filmmakers who actually invests a modicum of intelligence into conventional stylistic forms. Here, Nolan utilizes incredible set pieces, trick photography …

4 stars: A dream, within, a dream, within a dream where reality ends the nightmare begins
What is a dream? Is a dream fragmented memories from your life that appear in a disjointed sequences of events or is a dream things you have done over the course of day or things you have seen that are lumped together to create a strange and at sometimes puzzling  world that springs forth from the inner most reassesses of the human mind. Some will tell you the answer to why we dream and others will say that we dream because it is how our minds are constructed to keep us active even when we …

I was blown away by this film which has a great cast of actors!  Leonardo DiCaprio (Cobb) has mastered the art of "architecting" dreams and pulling others into the dream.  Once in, he is able to gain the other person's secrets, as people are less cautious about guarding information in their dreams.       Throughout the film he has a goal of getting back to the United States to see his two children.  This may be impossible because he is somewhat …

a mixed stratum of realities...tied down.
***SPOILERS AHEAD!***                                        Months of hype has led to the final unleashing of Christopher Nolan's newest creation - Inception.      You know...the one with Leonardo DiCaprio, the chick from Juno, the dude from (500) Days of Summer & Brick, the guy from "Bronson", …

I just came home from seeing Inception about an hour ago.  I think that the first thing I heard as the credits started running sums up the experience: "what the &!*#??"      Leonardo DiCaprio plays Dom, an expert at getting inside of peoples' minds (through dreaming) and stealing their secrets (known as extraction).  He has a team who help him with this, and his clients are often leaders of some of the largest and wealthiest corporations on Earth.  …

Leonardo di Caprio (in a role and a film that bears more than a superficial resemblance to his most recent other role in Martin Scorcese's Shutter Island) plays a dream thief, hired by powerful bigwigs as a kind of corporate spy to ferret out trade secrets, not by sneaking into offices and tapping phones; rather, his job is to infiltrate the mind while the victim sleeps, and find a way to tap into his or her subconscious. He used to be the best, but now it turns out his deep-seated guilt at …

As expected Christopher Nolan delivered with Inception. This movie has it all; that summer blockbuster feel, a great story that keeps you entertained and makes you think, and incredible pacing for its length. In a movie that feels like a mix between The Matrix, Total Recall and Ocean's Eleven, we are moved between dreams and reality from the first scene. In an attempt to regain his life and get back to his children, Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) has turned to corporate espionage  with his had …

Inception is a rare beast of a movie; a big budget blockbuster that has brains as well as bangs for your buck. Kept under wraps right up to its release, it managed to retain a level of advance hype and exposure practically unheard of in the current movie climate of spoilers, leaks and previews. If the subterfuge was a calculated move, employed to keep the labyrinthine plot a mystery, then it worked like a charm. I'm sure many people, like me, went into watching this without knowing much about …

Christopher Nolan, being relatively unknown until he rebooted the Batman franchise, has managed to produce the best film of 2010 and possibly one of the best films of the decade. He manages to take fantasy concepts and bring them into the real world, no matter how crazy they may seem. Batman is one of his projects that he wanted to remove from the comic book fantasy and bring it into the real world to the point the viewer would be thinking "so this is really possible". Although …

Alfred Hitchcock redefined horror and suspense with Rear Window, The Birds, and Psycho. Judd Apatow and Todd Phillips crafted the comedy classics that have defined our generation like Knocked Up, The Hangover, and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. Now, Christopher Nolan has broke ground with not only some of the finest storytelling I’ve seen in years, but also discovering a new frontier of film-making when it comes to the world of dreams. The film is set in a world of “dream espionage”, …

'Inception' is a hard movie to judge. Basically, it is a mind-bender, and as such should be judged by two criteria: How good of a mind-bender is it? And, How much does it create a realm of its own with phenomena and rules of causality that work consistently? In my mind `Inception,' despite some derivative elements, is an inventive movie that provides mind-enveloping reactions well after the viewing is over. Much like Lynch's `Inland Empire' before it, the movie coalesces well into one's imagination …

Christopher Nolan does it again, and without the need of a giant rubber bat suit. Rather we are privileged to what feels like some of his earlier work in Memento or Following but with the budget of a Batman movie. Nolan takes you through the labyrinth of his mind, and with great relief you come out the other side but with the insatiable urge to go through again.      Open on our hero Dom Cobb, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, a thief for hire who can go into your mind while you sleep …

Since his impressive debut, Following, Christopher Nolan has proven himself time and time again to be one of the boldest, most original voices in Hollywood. Whether he's applying his impressive storytelling prowess and clear direction to a beloved franchise or working from an original idea, Nolan consistently delivers films that seamlessly work on multiple levels. It's no easy feat.       In my experience, I tend to look at a film's quality based on two different …

Modern movies, when they want to be appear more clever than they actually are, rely on the famous twist ending. The problem is, most of them can be seen miles away. Even before I'd seen the movie and was only roughly aware that is was one of those enter a dream/mind movies, I was expecting an ambiguous ending that could swing either way (woke up or not). What I wasn't expecting was just how entertaining the movie is. For some people the movie will probably end up as one of those mind-blowing …

The idea of the real reality has always fascinated me. What makes reality real and in who's perception is it real? Leonardo DiCaprio plays Cobb in the movie and he goes into people's dreams to steal thier secretes but in their dreams he has to worry about his memories that are trying to brake free from his mind. This movie is just another great example of how twisted reality and dreams can be. You go into the movie thinking that jumping into someone's dream and …
