INVINCIBLE is a movie about the NFL Philadelphia Eagles' legendary Vince Papale (portrayed by Mark Wahlberg). The U.S. was in the grip of a major recession that was hitting the factories of Philadelphia especially hard. Times were tough and for many people in the area, the Eagles were the only thing they had to look forward to. Except, for several years, the Eagles had been nothing but one big disappointment. INVINCIBLE, though the title of this very Walt Disney/Hallmark Card docudrama, is a term that could be applied to the plethora of movies built on the stories of down and outers who pull themselves up by the bootstrings due to their success in sports.
