Comedy movie directed by Shawn Levy
Everyone knows that I was married not even 2 years ago (4/15/01). And, if you didn't, now you do. Anyway, I really liked this movie as did the friend that I went with. Incidentally, she's relatively a newlywed as well. Perhaps WE liked the movie so much because we could identify with the characters as well as the situation.
Sarah Mc Nerney (Brittany Murphy) is a milionaire's daughter. Tom Leezak (Ashton Kutcher) is an average Joe. When a chance meeting due to a football in the face brings these two together, wedding bells ring in less than a year. Tom's family is the kind that you would see drinking and swearing at a basketball game while Sarah's family owns the team they are watching. You can imagine the differences between the two.
But, hey, love conquers all. Right?
Kutcher and Murphy do a great job as the two lovebirds. The chemistry between them is excellent, and they compliment each other well. The rest of the cast is great, too, except for Toshi Toda (Yuan) who tries too hard to be funny.
If you're a newlywed, this is a film that you should definitely see. It covers a good amount of the problems in the beginning of a marriage, especially from the naivete to reality and trying not to fight. Older folks, however, really didn't get into it, especially those that have been married for a while.
The scenery is fantastic, as the two try to have an amazing Honeymoon. You'll look at the various places and sigh, "Ooh... I want to go there!"
In conclusion, twenty-somethings and younger (and maybe even older newlyweds) would enjoy this film. Anyone older, pass on this one.
