Pros: Not much; Diane Lane.     Cons: Not enough character development, again.     The Bottom Line: Must Love Dogs is a so-so movie that is too short to be really meaningful. I enjoyed it but, only marginally; not a total waste of time but close.      Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie''s plot. Must Love Dogs is a good, enjoyable movie with witty dialogue and appealing characters. It's basically a less substantial version of Dianne Lane's earlier "Under the Tuscan Sun". Just subtract the fantastic scenery and add a more traditional ending.    Lane (just as gorgeous as ever) is a newly divorced teacher being pushed, pulled and prodded back into the dating world by various family members. MUST LOVE DOGS is everything you'd expect it to be with a title like that: a silly rehash of internet dating, this time with older candidates all recently divorced, trying not to appear to ridiculous in this cyberworld of instant matchmaking. The script is weak, the story old hat, but with a cast like this, who cares? Watching the likes of Diane Lane, Elizabeth Perkins, John Cusack, Stockard Channing, Dermot Mulroney, and Christopher Plummer in an ensemble covers a lot of cracks in a flimsy script. …
