A Night at the museum is not as good a treat as you would hope
While I have not read of the children novel  that inspired this  2006 adaption I will say that the book must have been better than this. While I will admit that "Night at the Museum" has it's charms  and a few laughs it fails to be a convincing  adventure comedy, mainly due to the fact that it doesn't take itself seriously.            "Night at the Museum"  is smart  in some ways and dumb in others, it's stylish …

Gotta love a movie that combines wild animals with Romans and the Wild West. Night at the Museum (Widescreen Edition) manages to throw all of these adventures together in one film. The result is a fun and often funny film - even for adults. The CG animation looks pretty good, but doesn't overwhelm the plot of story. Usually, all-star casts don't work so well together, but this cast - Ben Stiller, Robin Williams, Owen Wilson, and even Dick Van Dyke and Mickey Rooney - works brilliantly and bring …

Ben Stiller matures a lot as an actor in this family comedy. Night at the Museum has a predictable plot, but with the fun of watching Stiller rise above the inane, and Robin Williams hamming it up as TR, it delivers outstanding family entertainment. Steve Coogan as the mini-Roman centurion, Octavius, Owen Wilson as petite cowboy Jedediah, and Patrick Gallagher as a full-sized Attila the Hun, lend strong comic support. Museum relies heavily upon special effects and physical humor, but never stoops …

This movie was the biggest comedy of 2006, and deservedly so. The storyline, though not entirely original, comes pretty close; a museum whose displays come to life at night. The casting is great, and features four top comedians from the past 50 years; Ben Stiller of the 21st century, Robin Williams from the 1980s and 1990s, Mickey Rooney from the 1970s, and Dick Van Dyke from the 1960s. The visual effects are quite impressive, but are not extravagant, and best of all, the comedy is quite original. …

Pros: Highly entertaining family action/adventure for the Holidays      Cons: The trailer gave away too much, but the film is still well worth it!      The Bottom Line: If you are looking for something that will entertain your family from young to old, this is the one to see this season!      Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie's plot. Larry Daley is at loose ends. In fact, it appears as if he has been …
