Teen actress Anne Hathaway gives an endearing performance in Garry Marshall's delightful Disney comedy, THE PRINCESS DIARIES. Assisted by such seasoned pros as Julie Andrews and Hector Elizondo (a Marshall regular), Hathaway shines here in her first … see full wiki
This movie is one of my favorites. For one it co-stars my favorite actress, Julie Andrews, and debuts Anne Hathaway, who has become one of my favorite actresses. Secondly, it is a well done story of a common girl, Mia, played by Anne Hathaway, who learns she is really a princess of a tiny European country, Genovia.
In the movie the Queen of Genovia (Julie Andrews) takes on the challenge of Mia's princess training, as she is the last hope of keeping the throne from the rather evil appearing count and countess, who are greedy for the power. Unlike most girls being a princess is something Mia never dreamt of and with it causing her to lose her life of invisibility that she enjoyed so much she thinks about giving up her claim to the throne. In the end will she accept or reject her title as Princess of Genovia?
Beyond Mia learning to be a princess there is a great scene of Mia giving the Queen a non-royal day of fun in San Francisco, which has some of the funniest scenes including a made up knighting ceremony that gets them out of trouble.
The movie also has some great music in it, including my favorite Miracles Happen.
