Pros: The Return of the original Holly!

Cons: Some of the snap seems to have gone out of their towels.

Let me begin by saying I have watched this series from the very first episode, and Love them all to varying degrees and for different reasons. That said, I must admit that I am not as fond of this seasons episodes.

Although I am glad that they brought back the original Holly,I wonder why they didn't also bring in the original Kachanski. This is not the same impression that we were first given of this character, but she does give a little diversity to the crew.Hurrah, for the inclusion of Jane Austin world!

Bringing the entire crew back, and the manner in which they did so, was
something I really didn't expect, but again it brings in some fresh outlooks. The laughs are still there, even if I'm not laughing quite as
hard, and the special effects are a definate improvement.

(OK, for all you sticklers out there- Some of the comedic highlights in this set include: Time delayed effects from a mess hall fight, The reason why Kryton is classified a woman and how he tries to change that,Krytie TV, and the inadvertent torture of Cpt. Hollister. You'll have to watch the shows to find out the more intimate details!)

These episodes still amused , but left me feeling vaguely dissatisfied.Maybe it's just a form of jetlag after all the changes they have made, or the peekaboo way our PBS station aired this season. But I have been vaguely dissatisfied with episodes before, and it hasn't stopped me yet!

Some of their best episodes have the Douglas Addams appeal grinning innanely out at you. With lines like, "It's as plain as a Bulgarian pin-up!" ,"We have about as much choice as a Welsh fish&chips shop!" or "Who would scrawl a message using their own intestines?.....Someone badly in need of a pen." how could you resist? One of my personal favorites, features the NorWeb pursuit ala Holly ,THAT was a masterful set up!

Don't look for depth or precision and you can only be pleasantly surprised when they do hit the mark. More humor than sci-fi, like HitchHiker's Guide, but a cult classic none the less.It still out performs most American sitcoms in 9 out of 10 test drives.
