"Rome"--The Complete Series (Blu Ray)

A Treasure

Amos Lassen

Everything about the Blu Ray version of "Rome"--the complete series is wonderful--from the packaging to the quality of the transfer. All 22 episodes are here and are available in almost any language. The extra, "All Roads Lead to Rome" is a Blu Ray exclusive. The show attempts to give us a look at Rome of 2000 years ago when there were no sexual inhibitions, when women were just the property of men and slavery was a way of life. It follows the history of Rome with a crystal clear picture and amazing sound.
The series is wonderful on all levels. Historically it is accurate, the characters are compelling and the stories capture the viewer. The sets and cinematography are lush and stunning. The series is about the last years of the Roman Empire, itself a compelling period in world history. If you watch no other mini-series then see "Rome". You will not be sorry.
