My review title pretty much sums up the mishmash of a film entitled "Sharktopus." Brought to you by horror schlock master Roger Corman and his wife, Julie, this film wallows in the fact that it's bad from the beginning and celebrates its badness throughout.

The paper-thin plot focuses on S-11 (that's fancy talk for "Sharktopus"), a shark/octopus hybrid creature developed by Blue Water, a genetics company run by Nathan Sands (Eric Roberts), to be used by the US Navy as a weapon. When the Navy wants to see what this killing machine can really do, an outboard prop manages to knock the lone prototype controller unit off of S-11 and the creature goes on a killing spree down in Mexico. The rest of the film centers around Sands, his scientist daughter, Nicole (Sara Malakul Lane), and a womanizing hunter with a heart of gold named Flynn (Kerem Bursin) as they try to stop the monster. Nathan Sands wants the creature alive, as does his daughter. But as the body count rises, Nicole starts to side with Flynn, and they attempt to kill the creature.

Also on the trail of ol' Sharktopus is a glory-seeking reporter named Stacy Everheart (Liv Boughn) and her loyal cameraman, Bones (Hector Jimenez). They provide much of the intentional humor in the film.

Everyone else in the cast (with few exceptions) is there simply to be chewed, chomped, beheaded, split apart, gnawed, gashed, or eaten by S-11.

The film is bad, both intentionally and unintentionally. From lame generic Mexican music playing throughout, to countless young ladies in bikinis, and goofy kill after goofy kill (my favorite is the bungee kill), this film loves the fact that it isn't serious.

If you watch it for what it is (a B-film), you'll enjoy it well enough. It has drinking game written all over it, but I should warn you that unlike most B-films, there's not much strong language and absolutely no nudity. If those two ingredients are key to your enjoyment of a B-film, "Sharktopus" might leave you high and dry.

Only recommended to people who "get" B-films and anyone interested in watching boys and girls in skimpy outfits do their best bad acting routines.

I love Corman films but is early B films from the 50s and 60s are better than his later stuff. I actually met Roger Corman at San Diego Comicon in 2010. Great guy. Oh, and the director Joe Dante. :)
