I like Spike Lee for the most part. Most of him movie are about the same reoccurring themes, but offer different variation on it. Not so with She Hate Me a movie filled with beautiful people without a purpose. After watching the movie 1,5 times I still am at a lose the explain what it was a it about, or how it is relevant to the Black American experience.
Staring a diverse rooster of known actors including Anthony Mackie, Ellen Barkin, Kerry Washington, and Monica Bellucci, She Hate Me is visually and sexually alluring but it offers little else. Perhaps Spike meant as a commentary on the increasing number of un-conventional familys in American society. If so he should have approached the movie in much more serious fashion. If another rainy day were to present itself and I had nothing better to do, perhaps She Hate Me would once again find a place in my DVD player
