1984 American horror film directed and written by Wes Craven
Wes Craven's attempt to start another horror movie franchise. The lackluster box office numbers failed to produce a sequel. The film was submitted to the MPAA several times in order to obtain an R rating.
What did you think of this review?
Agreed! I've seen a lot of Wes Craven movies (Chiller, Serpent and the Rainbow, Shocker, People Under the Stairs, et al), and when Scream entered the screens...too many movies were on the same run-of-the-mill idealistics.
You're also dead-on about New Nightmare (aka NOES7). I didn't really care for this movie, b/c I felt like I was watching someone else's take on In the Mouth of Madness, only to conjugate Freddy Kreuger in the midst. Whilst I'm uncertain which movie came first, they seem to play of each other's motives. I left this movie, only to think "I've seen this done before".. There's nothing new about this nightmare. Just an embellished tune on an already-attempted slant.
