The best sort of ugly-duckling romance. SB is a great example of the sort of the sometimes meanspirited "humor" that spices Australian romantic comedies (Muriel's Wedding is another). That sounds like a bad thing out of context, but it really adds emotional meat to the story that would just be total sap in the hands of an American director/studio.
