It is difficult to write a review for this movie without providing a whole lot of spoilers to the plot. It is about two men (Marco and Benigno) who love two women (Alicia and Lydia) that are both in comas. They meet one day in the hospital and realize that they had been sitting next to each other at the opera recently.
Benigno, a male nurse, is taking care of Alicia who he really didn't know before her coma other than being kind of a "stalker" of her. He first saw her out of his apartment window as she was taking dance lessons. One day she drops her wallet and he returns it and walks with her to her building. Noting that her father is a psychiatrist working out of their apartment, Benigno makes an appointment to see her father. As he leaves her father's office he wanders around the apartment and goes into Alicia's room and steals one of her hair clips. She returns to the room from the shower and quite naked and gets frightened by him as he flees. Later after a car accident that put her in a coma she ends up in Benigno's hospital and he gets assigned to take care of her.
Marco is a writer of travel guides and his girlfriend in a coma is Lydia who was gored by a bull. He thinks of his girlfriend as "dead" but Benigno tells him she hears everything if you just "talk to her."
Benigno the more mentally unbalanced of the two later does something stupid. What transpires changes everything for the four people involved and makes Marco come to a lot a realizations about himself.
This is a good film for classroom discussion.
