One of my favorite DVD box sets. Although three of the films here (Nosferatu, The Last Laugh, and Faust) have been re-released in newly restored 2-disc deluxe editions available from Kino International, I still love this set. The inclusion of Murnau's wonderful swan song, Tabu, makes all the difference. in addition, the packaging is rather attractive and well designed.

I've recently acquired THE LAST LAUGH and Nosferatu. I need to get Tabu, Chris told me it was worth getting. My silent movie collection needs some beefing up.

Oh, really? Did you buy the new Kino DVDS? As for "Tabu", you'll love it. It feels a good twenty years ahead of its time and the Tahitian women are gorgeous.

It wasn't. I bought it on Amazon.com right after it went out of print and it cost me $100, but it was totally worth it. Currently, Kino has a slightly different Murnau box set available that includes six discs (the 3 films I mention have been restored and remastered are included though in single disc versions) and it features two films not included here. Sadly, "Tabu" wasn't made available in the new set.

In searching around, I found the cheapest at online Walmarts for $59, and a private dealer on eBay for $55. I'll start selling my comics to raise some money!
