Oscar Wilde is undoubtably a great witty playwright and his play The Importance of Being Earnest is properly considered to be one of his greatest productions. All of the actors in this film capture the spirit and wit and acceptable silliness of the play, and it is well worth while viewing it.     Two men think that they need to use false names. A fun period comedy, The Importance of Being Earnest is filled with biting lines and funny twists and turns. Despite some longwinded lines, the film has a very fast, upbeat pace that makes it constantly engaging. This is a more intelligent and witty version of modern romantic comedies.
