The Lord of the Rings film trilogy consists of three fantasy-adventure films: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), The Two Towers (2002) and The Return of the King (2003). The trilogy is based on the three-volume book The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien. While they follow the book's general storyline, the films also feature some additions to and deviations from the source material.

Set in the fictional world of Middle-earth, the three films follow the hobbit Frodo Baggins as he and a Fellowship embark on a quest to destroy the One Ring, and thus ensure the destruction of its maker, the Dark Lord Sauron. The Fellowship becomes divided and Frodo continues the quest together with his loyal companion Sam and the treacherous Gollum. Meanwhile, the wizard Gandalf and Aragorn, heir in exile to the throne of Gondor, unite and rally the Free Peoples of Middle-earth, who are ultimately victorious in the War of the Ring.

This 3-pack contains the theatrical release versions of Peter Jackson's brilliant THE LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy. See individual titles for detailed information.

The Lord of the Rings movies have the perfect combination of emotional acting, fantastical scenery, and thrilling plot twists. Peter Jackson and his team did a superb job and deserved every single Oscar they got. The movies are a wonderful tribute to the books. Fortunately, they've been made so well that they can be enjoyed by all, from the Tolkien aficionado to kids who haven't yet read the books. If you haven't seen this movie, you haven't seen the greatest adventure in cinematography during the …

Wait and buy the extended versions, which follow the original novels much more closely. In both of the previous installments the longer version was vastly superior to the theatrical relase. I can't imagine that Peter Jackson would not put the same amount of care into this extended version. As a whole, Peter Jackson did a wonderful job of bring J.R.R. Tolkien to life! Very few in Hollywood have been able to bring such "completeness" to Tolkien's visions. However, in order to expereince the wonderful …
