Had to buy the DVD to replace my own VHS cassette. I just love this film. I've watched it again and again since I was a child and it is sweepingly poignant every time.

When I was a wee little shaver growing up in the 1970's, I remember seeing this movie in school. It would've been, oh, about 1978 or 1979. Around the time I was in the 2nd grade. I don't remember a lot from that time of my life (it was, after all, a very long time ago). But I remember this movie! Heck, I even remember owning, of all things, a book that had stills from the movie with captions explaining what was going on.
