Half a star out of ****     If Anthony Shaffer's "The Wicker Man" is one of the best films of all time, and to me it is, then Neil LaBute's remake/update is most certainly one of the worst. Here is a film that abuses the terms "remake", "update", and "re-imagining". This is not so much a remake of "The Wicker Man", although it intends on doing what just about every other remake does; introduce an old and good movie to the rest of the world.    Now, I have …

One of the funniest movies I've ever seen. It was that bad. Basically so bad it was good. If you watch it, make sure you watch the DVD's special ending, otherwise you miss out on the best scene in the entire movie. If not, you can just watch this video someone made of the entire movie in less than 10 seconds.            Also if it wasn't for this movie, then one of the greatest youtube videos of all time would never have been created:   …

Pros: not much unless you are looking for humor     Cons: Cage should be embarrassed     The Bottom Line:   Brothers and their fathers joining hands and to make a chain  The shadow of the Wicker Man is rising up again  ~performed by Iron Maiden     I have never seen the original release of Wicker Man so I went into this totally on the merits of Nicholas Cage and Ellen Burstyn. Whoa, they do make some weird …

Sure its nail biting for a few scenes when random occurrences keep happening like lots of twins, spooky bees, old creepy ladies with football face paint among other things like old men half naked with missing eyes. Not to mention the fact that for some odd reason most of the conversations going on in the film is only understandable after a few pints of beer.     So many questions start to be asked as to why do all the men not talk? Sure I understand its a matriarchal culture …

I'd never seen until last night   A movie quite this awful   Watching this at any price   Should be declared unlawful     They said it was a horror film   I'll have you know they lied   They should have spelled it horror-bull   And then tossed it aside     Cage plays a tired burned out cop   Who heads out on a mission   To find a child of Summersisle   Without getting …

I've only seen glimpses of the original "The Wicker Man," and have yet to see it in its entirety. Therefore, I have no plans to compare this version with the original. Instead, I'll look at this flick for what it is: average Hollywood entertainment. Nicolas Cage plays Edward Malus, a policeman who tries to help a young woman and her daughter only to see a terrible thing happen to them. As he recovers from the bizarre event, he receives a letter from an old flame who says that her daughter has been …

The little girl with dead eyes who appears on the cover of The Wicker Man DVD never appears in the film as anything other than a little girl with perfectly normal eyes and a smile. That should tell you how hard filmmakers were trying to convince potential video renters that this movie is scarier than it actually is.    The Wicker Man of 2006 is, of course, a remake of The Wicker Man of 1973, proving once again that the word "remake" should be forcibly excised from the Hollywood …

I never cared for the original "The Wicker Man," I found it slow, dull and rather uninteresting; LaBute has taken the idea and made it into a Neil LaBute rant about feminism. However, the movie tells more about the creator than it does about feminism. This was by far the worst movie Nicholas Cage has ever starred in, and has topped my list for being one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Although the trailer makes this movie look amazing and full of suspense and horror, it unfortunately contains …
