Unintentionally hilarious at times. And it's also insulting to your intelligence.

Half a star out of **** If Anthony Shaffer's "The Wicker Man" is one of the best films of all time, and to me it is, then Neil LaBute's remake/update is most certainly one of the worst. Here is a film that abuses the terms "remake", "update", and "re-imagining". One of the worst Cage movies I've seen in a long time!

Sure its nail biting for a few scenes when random occurrences keep happening like lots of twins, spooky bees, old creepy ladies with football face paint among other things like old men half naked with missing eyes. Not to mention the fact that for some odd reason most of the conversations going on in the film is only understandable after a few pints of beer. I've only seen glimpses of the original "The Wicker Man," and have yet to see it in its entirety. Therefore, I have no plans to compare this version with the original. A classic, emasculated

The little girl with dead eyes who appears on the cover of The Wicker Man DVD never appears in the film as anything other than a little girl with perfectly normal eyes and a smile. That should tell you how hard filmmakers were trying to convince potential video renters that this movie is scarier than it actually is. An insult to the original but slightly hilarious to watch.

I never cared for the original "The Wicker Man," I found it slow, dull and rather uninteresting; LaBute has taken the idea and made it into a Neil LaBute rant about feminism. However, the movie tells more about the creator than it does about feminism.
