In spite of it's noticable lack of plot focus and character development, Barry Levinson's Toys is delightfully offbeat, wonderfully whimsical, and visually one of the best films I've ever seen (it deserved its Oscar nominations for art direction and costume design). It's theme of childish innocence corrupted by war is compelling, although it could have been explored at a much deeper level.
