Now, if you know me here on Lunch then there's one thing you probably learned about me early on... I love to hate Michael Bay.  Yet I couldn't stay away from Transformers the first time.  I began hearing from some of my friends that it was actually good.  They're not big on Michael Bay either.  In short, part of the reason I saw it was because I wanted to tell my friends that Michael Bay probably just made a movie with no plot and just put together a bunch …

Takes WAY TOO LONG to give us what we want and teases us in the mean time but the finale makes up for the monotony, lame comedic characters and other annoyances.

Can't wait for Transformers VIII or whatever number they're on. Michael Bay should be tried for crimes against humanity.

Intense, smart but not too smart and intriguing this big screen adaptation of the popular transformers franchise works better than it should, plays out better than you could ever expect. However, in the end leaves you wanting more.

This is a fast-paced slick movie starting with the reason why the Transformers came to Earth (there are two bands in search of a cube) and a spectacularly filmed attack on an American military base in Qatar. At first the viewer thinks that these are some evil machines out of a Stephen King movie and then you realize (like in Terminator 2) that there are good ones and bad ones.       The special effects are amazing and the story and characters are pretty good too. …

This movie wasn't called
I saw this in the theater and later when I got it on DVD my dad and I watched it, and he had the same reaction I did at the same scene.  The goofy "hiding" scene around the house where 50 foot tall robots are trying not to be seen by humans and geeky little Sam is trying to find an all important pair of glasses to save the day.  Maybe it wasn't that exact scene, maybe when it was when Sam's parents barge into his room and his mom tries bringing up masturbation.  …

Great robot-on-robot action, especially for Michael Bay!

Long and irritating big screen movie of alien robots that turn into cars and planes and wage war. One great scene just makes it worthwhile.

Transformers Blu-ray Cover art
Say what you will about Michael Bays Transformers, this is one of my favorite movies of all time.  Though not everyone is a fan of this film, it was one of the biggest hits during the summer of 2007, if not the biggest.  Transformers is an action packed, story driven thrill ride, something that Michael Bay knows how to pull off all to well.  All of the wonder and awe of the film has been transferred onto beautiful Blu-ray High Def and this makes it just as much fun at home as it is …

So, somewhere along the line it was decided that making films based on toy lines was a good idea, but it wasn't! Military vs. robots. Yuck!

In this 2007 blockbuster, we are enlightened to the creation of the Autobots, a benevolent race of robots from the planet Cybertron. We are then made aware of its destruction by the malevolent Decepticons, and in the process loses the All Spark on Earth. After the introduction, we move to U.S. SOCCENT FWD military base in Qatar where the Decepticons Blackout and Scorponok attack and try to hack into the military network to find the location of the now lost Megatron (leader of the Decepticons) and …

This movie was good in terms of the special effects and all but that was about it.  Well Megan Fox made it somewhat enjoyable to watch too, just purely on her hotness.  And Shia LaBeuf played his role pretty well too.  But overall, I expected a lot more from this movie as an old school fan of the cartoon.       One major flaw to this movie was the fact that they weren't like in the cartoon where they transformed into one thing.  For example, megatron …

What a surprise. Transformers, is sincerely the most unlikely candidate for one of my favourite films of all time, yet it nabbed a spot in an instant. Michael Bay, let's face it, isn't the greatest Director in the world, but there's no denying that he's still good at what he does. He has the capability of creating an epic and enjoyable mindless blockbuster, that when you come out of watching it, you're not sure why, but you loved it. Armageddon is a symbol of that and with its many, many flaws i.e. …

Transformers: The Movie
You can't overthink "Transformers."  Basically, what you have are huge talking robots that sometimes turn into automobiles.  Some are good, some are bad, and they battle each other.    Trying to take Transformers seriously, or attempting to forge some deeper meaning out of the symbology of Transformers, is as futile as Megatron's attempts to defeat Optimus Prime.  Transformers is most enjoyed when it is taken for precisely what it is: crazy special effects, evil …

Autobots, Decepticons   Much more than meets the eye   Robots in disguise on earth   And now I'll tell you why     Optimus Prime and Megatron   Agreed to have a battle   The latter wanted the All Spark   As if it were his chattel     Cybertron has been destroyed   The All Spark must be found   Megatron picks up the trail   And crashes to the ground     Decepticons …

Although CGI is pretty much the cornerstone of this movie, I really enjoyed it.  The acting was great.  Shia LaBeouf did a great job and made some parts of the movie funny for the younger crowd.  An of course you have to have a hot chick that kicks some butt in these kind of movies and I think Megan Fox did a good job.  The fight scenes are hard to follow due to their speed and the complexity of the Transformers bodies, especially at the end.  But overall it is …

Pros: Shia LeBeouf, amazing CGI, great movie all-around     Cons: Megan Fox was carried throughout the whole flick     The Bottom Line: The best movie of 2007, by far!     Plot Details: This opinion reveals major details about the movie''s plot. Easily the best film of the summer 2007, if not the best film of the entire year, Transformers finally opened in theatres on Independence Day 2007 after much anticipation. And it was well-worth …

Throughout the mid-1980's, I always made it a point to get home from school as quickly as possible to watch channel 11, KSTW, as they showed Transformers - First Season Collector's Edition. It was one of my favorite shows, though I owned hardly any of the toys.    I largely forgot about my favorite robots until 1999 when a friend of mine turned me on to Beast Wars Transformers - The Complete First Season, which had mildly good animation and incredibly good plots (gotta love that …

No wonder Michael Bay's `Transformers' is destined to be one of the biggest box office smashes of 2007. Looking at the commercial previews of the movie, I was not impressed. Watching digitally enhanced transformer toys morphing across the screen looked too fake and too much. It's good for kids, but I could wait for the DVD. Not so. After having watched the widescreen version on a small screen, I was in awe of the special effects and kept at the edge of my seat for most of the movie. Thoroughly likable, …

"Transformers" may be the most audience dividing movie I've seen this year. It has as many things going for it as it does against it, and debating the pros and cons of the film could make any sane person feel the need to find a new hobby. On one hand the movie comes from director Michael Bay ("Armageddon," "Pearl Harbor "), who delivers the kind of film you'd except him to deliver: A film that is noisy, loud, and an assault on the senses. Like most Bay movies though, this one is also a lot of fun, …
