A movie directed by Ben Stiller

It's not really a knock to say that nothing inTropic Thunderis funnier than its first five minutes, so sly that--especially for people watching in theaters--you don't realize right away theyarethe opening minutes of the movie. This outrageous … see full wiki

Thunderously Hilarious.
Warning   If your easily offened (or have no sence of humor) do not watch this film.               OK so were do I begin, how about the fake trailers at the begining or how bout Tom Cruises awesome dancing skills (sarcasm).      What ever the case likeTopic Thunder is similar in storyline to Malibu's Most Wanted its about a group of actors who think they are filming a movie in the jungle, but are completely …

Good fun to watch with the guys, though definitely odd.

A good comedy is paced like a good action film, and the (laughable?) turns to drama(?) in the final third made me shrug and not care.

This is a great parody on the art and hype of movie making.

RD Jr. was great...but Cruise steals the show as Les Grossman. Will we see a LG movie?!

Just seen this film and it was odd to say the least - watchable but not particularly funny ha ha.

While Ben Stiller's latest comedy film, Tropic Thunder isn't a perfect film it is one of the better comedies to come along this summer (although, when your competition is comprised of films like The Love Guru, maybe this is damning it with faint praise). It's long, it doesn't always work, and one gets the feeling that Stiller and company applied an "everything but the kitchen sink" approach when it came to the material, but there are still enough funny bits and solid performances to make the whole …

if i didn't know that Robert Downey Jr was in this film, i wouldn't have been able to pick him out. this started much better than it ended.

Three actors made this film: Robert Downy Jr., Tom Cruise and Jack Black (and I even had time were I thought he wasn't great at times). I don't care If Ben Stiller wrote, directed and produced this movie, his part sucked, but it was still hilarious and great without him. Honestly. Ben Stiller has not had a good movie since... There's Something About Mary. The fact though that Robert Downy Jr. plays a black man who is played by an Australian (very Russell Crow), is the funniest thing I think has …

Tropic Thunder is a guilty pleasure - much along the lines of Zoolander in that it's packed with witticisms and caricatures that take a few viewings to go from very funny to absolutely hilarious. My wife hated this film by the way, and it's definitely not for everyone - but if you have a bizarre sense of humor, you'll like it.¬†Rather than re-hash the plot, I'd like to quote my favorite parts without giving anything away:¬†    - Tom Cruise as the Producer (Les Grossman) is in his …

Pros: Creative and original     Cons: More clever than funny     The Bottom Line: Thun-der!     You've probably heard all the incessant fawning over Robert Downey Junior's performance in Tropic Thunder as actor Kirk Lazarus, a five-time Oscar winner who gets so wrapped up in his characters that he even gets a blackface operation to play a black Vietnam war vet in a Vietnam movie. As Lazarus puts it himself, "I don't drop character until …

This is a movie about the making of a war movie, said movie being based on a book, said book having been written by a Vietnam vet, and based upon his memoirs. Of course, from the cast you can easily tell that it is actually a spoof about the making of a war movie based on a memoir, so I don't have to break it down into a million little pieces for you.     Even funnier are the mock trailers and an advertisement that precede the movie, which give you an indication of the star power …

This is a very funny movie that should tickle the funny-bone of fans of any war films, and any other comedy fans. Ben Stiller proves himself as being a better director than his previous attempt with Zoolander and Tropic Thunder is one of the best comedies of 2008.     We have a solid primary cast between Stiller, Black, and Downey Jr., but good old Robert Downey Jr. manages to steal most of the scenes from his co-stars as the white actor playing the black platoon sergeant ("I …

There are few comedies out there that will get me to do anything more than chuckle mildly. Almost none will have me actually laughing out loud. Tropic Thunder manages to do that.    The movie centers around a group of actors sent to Vietnam to film a war movie about a soldier (Nick Nolte, looking like... well, his mugshot), who lost his hands in a rescue mission while saving his buddies. Each of actors comes equiped with a massive ego and soon the director, Damien Cockburn (Steve …

It's hard to really capture the essence of this "terribly," good movie. It's hardcore, adult comedy like on the comedy circuit except it's in the form of a full length feature film with special effects. The dialogue is raw and rough like straight out of the R-Rated Las Vegas comedy strip. I really do enjoy Stiller's sense of humor, but until now I really thought that he wasn't capable of making a complete film. Usually the humor dies out half way through, the plot becomes boring, and I just want …

Many months ago, when I first heard the concept behind TROPIC THUNDER, and the names of the cast members, my interest was certainly quite high...but so was my expectation of disappointment. So often, movies with great concepts fail to execute well (good example, HANCOCK).     The concept: a group of film stars are working on a Vietnam combat film, based on a true story about a brave rescue of a POW. Little do the bickering, clueless actors know, but they've been spotted by a …
