Not as good as it could have been, but a good ride none the less...

While it has a good concept and  great visual effects "Twister" falls prey to the  poor script and acting on the leads  behalf. But the only real salvation of  this film  is it's mind blowing special effects and nail biting tension that it exudes onscreen. Jan de Bont's "Twister" could have been great, it could have been one of the best  but it settles too soon for average.

It's more impressive on a technological level than it is as a true  disaster story  mostly due to the poor character development and the disastrous script, no pun intended. But Twister tries and  almost fails to really give you a dramatic and action packed  disaster epic but all it succeeds in doing is giving you an adrenalin fueled ride   which is good in all  but it doesn't make up completely for the horrendous script  and extremely poor acting if it was a documentary  about tornadoes I might be more forgiving. But as a film "Twister" does not impress.

Bill Paxton(Who I really don't like) overacts  and underplays the character(What little is there.)  and the Michael Crichton script  far too much  to be convincing as a leading man or as an intelligent  storm chaser for that matter.Paxton drones on and on he overacts through the whole film and totally destroys  a solid plot   and makes himself an eyesore the minute he steps onscreen. Helen Hunt is a little better  but nowhere  near good enough to carry this film on her own  she also overacts and underacts far too much and  can get quite annoying while she is on screen. But there are some parts where she really does well and that saves her form being  a thorn in this pictures side. But all in all the cast doesn't fail to impress  they just don't really  do much to show there true worth in this picture  but some of the supporting cast does some good at keeping this film  going but  even they can't seem to keep it  from falling apart at the most crucial moments.

"Twister" is not good entertainment and it's too well made to be called horrible  but it's somewhere in-between  average and bad it's for you to deiced which.  "Twister" is able to stay afloat thanks to the action and  special  effects   but everything else falls apart when it needs to  stand tall. All in all "Twister" is an A-Bomb.
Not as good as it could have been, but a good ride none the less...
