Zatoichi is a fine example of the brilliant film making of actor/ writer/ director Takeshi Kitano. His adaptation of the blind masseur/ vigilante Ichi Zatoichi is awesome. Kitano shows why he's still one of the baddest dudes around. He gives the blind masseur a new depth that the previous one never had. Not only is he comical and witty, but he's a killing machine that is smooth as velvet but deadly as night shade.
The wandering masseur bumps his way into a town that is plagued by warring factions. There are two gangs that are fighting over the right to force the townsfolk to pay protection money. A lone ronin, his ill wife and two siblings are also in the village. Tension amongst the gangs and the residents are rising. Something big is going to happen with Ichi Zatoichi is going to be in the middle of it. Will he be able to quell the violence? Who is this mysterious Ronin and what are the motives of the young siblings? Find out when you watch Zatoichi!!
Kitano has created a fine piece of film making. I loved this movie. How can you not enjoy Takeshi Kitano? He has an aura of badness. One of the few legit actors in the business. I enjoy his style of directing and I wonder if he's going to make anymore Zatoichi movies? Only one can hope...
