A sci-fi movie with heart

In these days of CG-filled sci-fi movies with no soul (I'm thinking of Avatar here...), I've found myself increasingly going back to the 80s and rediscovered this classic. *Batteries Not Included features robotic aliens helping out residents in a poor neighborhood about to be condemned. All of the characters are unique and lovable in their own, flawed way. The aliens are both adorable and mysterious - an odd combination. Best of all, the special effects still hold up surprisingly well. The ships look pretty realistic.

*Batteries Not Included is what sci-fi should be - fun, original, and with special effects that last the ages.
