Mick Jones and Tony James bring back old school rock with a 21th century mentality.
Dec 26, 2009
Carbon/Silicon is the new band that consists of the punk duo of Mick Jones and Tony James. The two former members of the UK Punk Class of 1976 have continued the DIY mantra of music by recording simple punk tunes using two guitars, drum machine and bass. Whilst music today has become over produced bland tripe, Carbon/Silicon brings back classic old school garage band mentality and combined it with a 21st century attitude. Mick Jones vocals and guitar playing (supplemented by Tony James rhythm guitar) hearken back to the days of The Clash and BAD (but without the heavy 80's production and samples). The left leaning ideals that made The Clash unique are still found in the duo's music. The best hing about Carbon/Silicon is the new material. Instead of becoming a macabre cabaret act like many older punks bands. Jones and James have released new material and you can get some of it for free at their website.
Free music (yes, Carbon/Silicon embrace the MP3 revolution) and new tunes from two old school punks. What more can you ask for? Don't forget to check them out when they appear in a local music venue near you.
