Episode one of this show's series premiere was surprisingly better than most series premieres. Normally getting used to, or interested in a brand new series can be difficult, especially because most times the acting is rather stiff, and the plot needs to be good enough to grab you in the first few minutes. So far so good for "A Gifted Man." Basically the plot is rather simple so far - Dr. Michael Holt (Patrick Wilson) is a talented neurosurgeon who treats only the most well off of patients, and knows how talented he is. Despite being somewhat of a narcissist, Holt is actually quite likable, and is committed to always being at his best.  And then one day he happens to meet up with his ex-wife who, unbeknownst to Michael at the time had died two weeks prior.

At first glance A Gifted Man may seem like nothing more than a mix of Medium and House, but I thought it was quite different. Holt finds himself honoring a request from his ex, and then finds himself treating a poor minority (Mexican I think) boy, giving his condition precedence over one of his most important and influential patients.  Wilson is amazingly convincing in his role, and I was hooked in the first five minutes. I hope others agree, and the ratings for this show skyrocket.
