Great Food + Great Local Vibe in Laid Back La Jolla

On a whim, we hit Beaumont's for an early Sunday afternoon supper this summer, and it was firing on all cylinders.

Great menu selection, great service, great food quality, good vibe, and a nice decor that was chic yet laid back - just like it's La Jolla surroundings.

It feels like a more genuine local spot to hit because it's not downtown, in the fray, but over on a little low-key stretch of La Jolla Blvd that has several cute shops and great restaurants.

We had a child in our group, and the kids menu was one of the better I've seen - with quality ingredients and a bit more creative options than just mac n cheese or chicken fingers (though, those perennials were included). My daughter's burger came early, and we were drooling over how good it looked - and the taste matched the appearance.

My husband and I both ordered fish entrees from the specials menu --great presentation and the flavor was fantastic on everything.

The only miss -- I had the artichoke appetizer, of which I'm a bit of a connoisseur, and it was ok, but not amazing. Could've been more seasoned.

For dessert, we had root beer floats - a classic you don't often see on menus, and that can't help but make you smile : ) From the kids dessert menu, my daughter had a "warm raspberry foamy milk" - which was light, delicious and let her feel very special in its cute tiny cup. What a thoughtful alternative to the overly rich, sugary options (though, again - they had those too if that's your fave).

The front outdoor patio area was really chill and it seemed like everyone knew each other - but not in an exclusive unwelcoming way, more like an inviting neighborhoody way.

The bar area looked like it would be really fun in the evening, and they have live music. We'll stop in for a show, for sure, the next time we're in town.

Recommend Beaumont's for sure!!

Great review, Melissa! I'm definitely going to have to check this out if I'm ever in La Jolla. I love neighborhood joints where everything and everyone is laid back and chill.
