After trying out a friend's iPod touch, I decided that I wanted one of my own, and when they went on sale after Christmas, I snapped one up. I am so glad I did, because it is like having a little mini computer that I can take everywhere, and it's not only more versatile, but it's also faster!
There are many uses for the iPod touch, and probably one of the most used is the fact that you can download music to it as well as TV shows, movies, books, and more. You will probably have to create an iTunes account and pay to download the music, but it's worth it to get your favorite songs and TV shows to watch anytime you want, regardless of whether you have an internet connection or not.
This bring us to the next thing that the iPod touch can do, and that is connect to the internet. When in range of a connection that you can connect to, you are able to surf the web and do virtually anything that you can do online. Whether it's shop here on Amazon or watch videos on other sites, it's really like having a more portable version of a laptop.
Another thing that the iPod touch is known for is its apps. These are little programs that you can download to your iPod from the internet. The games available are fun, but that isn't all available. There are also informational apps, shopping apps, and more.
Texting is yet another feature that the iPod touch possesses as you are able to create an account with a program and text cell phones. You will be assigned a phone number that people can text you on, provided you have an internet connection. You can also actually call people via programs such as Skype and use the iPod touch as a phone. Once again, you have to have an internet connection.
The next feature that I will mention about this device is the reading element that it has. You can download books onto your device and read them whenever you want. You can do this by using iTunes, as I mentioned before, and Amazon's Kindle App, which allows you access to a large amount of free books, as well.
A final feature that I'm going to discuss is the built in camera and video camera that come with the iPod touch. Since getting them, I have neglected my digital camera, and I'm not sure if I will ever go back to that. The picture and video quality far surpasses that of my personal digital camera, and I am very satisfied with it. The microphone used on the video camera isn't the loudest I've ever heard, but it is completely clear and free of static which makes it great in my book!
And this is just a brief scratching of the surface of the many things that you can do with an iPod touch. I highly recommend it if you have access to the internet, and if you don't then this will probably be quite useless to you. The last thing I'm going to say is that I really have learned to enjoy the battery life. If you were to keep using it for 4-5 hours straight, that would pretty much use up the battery, but because it puts itself to sleep when it's not being used, I have found that the battery will stay usable for about 12 hours or more! I have found this to be a reliable and awesome device, and I am absolutely glad that I decided to buy one.
