Vatican intrigue

  • Feb 20, 2013
This book purports to go "behind the scenes" in Vatican City to show that the Jesuit order is making money in the stock market and other trading opportunities. Additionally, there is a renegade group called the Archangeli who deal with disreputable people to make their own money. The Jesuits have come to the conclusion that something must be done to halt the bad guys and, in addition, clean up much of the mess in the modern Catholic Church.

An Italian investigator who specializes in computer crime, and who is an avid investor himself, is brought in to help accomplish the goal of the Jesuits. There are murders, car chases, moles, beautiful women who may have some connection to the whole thing, and at the end, of course, the Pope himself.

I found the plot very well done, although I couldn't follow the trading stuff at all, but that didn't detract from my enjoyment of the book. As it approached it's end, I found myself reading faster and faster to see how everything turned out. The ending was quite satisfying, though I understand that there is a sequel in the works. When it comes out, I certainly intend to read it!
