Running is new to me, I started about three years ago and found myself with a stress fracture in my right shin. Once I healed up and started running again, I was on the search for a good pair of running sneakers that would be stable and cushiony, taking the stress off of my shins and allowing me to run correctly. After going through two pairs of Nikes and having the "air" in both pairs literally pop while I was running, I decided that Nike sneakers were awful. It was insulting! I am not that heavy... After asking running friends about sneakers, most said that anything by Asics would be fantastic. After owning two pairs and running countless miles and months on end, I have found that Gel-Kayano 15's by Asics are the best shoes to run in.

- Their fit is very precise, with a diagonal lacing pattern that actually hugs the foot to keep it from sliding around and keeps the arch supported.

- They have a Duo-Max center, an area of harder foam underneath the arch to maintain stability.

- The shoe is cushioned with gel but not gushy, which allowed me to run 40-50 miles a week pain-free after my stress fracture, even though I am prone to shin problems.

- The women's version has a large toe box which is a plus because it allows toes to spread naturally and grip the ground, making for a more natural stride. This also keeps toenails in tact, which is nice.

- The only drawback is the price, which is usually between $120 and $140. However, if you spend a lot of time running, it is worth it.

The Asics Gel-Kayano 15 is a great shoe for anyone who tends to over-pronate or get shin splints because of the meticulous arch support and cushion throughout the shoe, but it is also a great running sneaker in general. The Gel-Kayano 16's just came out though, so it looks like I have some more research to do...

Good review great details. I am not a runner but I picked up a pair of Pearl Izumi Guide shoes, I love them for any running and working out in general. I did a review on them a while back, can't remember the name of the review, but you might want to check them out. They are the Syncro Guide II.

Thanks for the into to these shoes. I do over pronate and have flat feet so I might have to look into these. I might have to find a New Balance outlet store cuz these are super-duper expensive.

I'm new to the world of running, too!  Great to hear that these work for you, and I love how they're available in a pink shade, too :)  This review goes great in Lunch's Running Community.  Thanks for sharing!
