Avery Hanging File Binders keep papers out of the way and in the filing cabinet!

Pros: Durable, hanging or regular, no gapping rings, snag free, affordable, simple to use
Cons: A little bit flimsy, binder label could be better
The Bottom Line: Avery 3 Ring Hanging File Binders 11"x8 1/2" keep papers protected and hanging in a filing cabinet. Easy to use, convertible from hanging to regular, they work fine for me.
I have an office outside my home that I have maintained for many years. Problem is, it doesn't look very well maintained at the moment. I decided this was the year that I would get my act together and get the office back into shape. I bought a ton of organizing supplies, among them a few Avery Hanging File Binder 3 Ring 1" Capacity 11"x8 1/2" Red AVE14803.
These binders are great. They are inexpensive and keep my loose papers together and stored in my filing cabinet. My Experience
These binders come in other colors as well. I bought a few colors to make finding the right folder easier. The folders are made out of what seems to a lightweight plastic. They have three rings that lock for standard sheets of paper (or ringed plastic sheaths) and I can get maybe 100 sheets of paper in there but I don't want to over-stuff it and wrinkle the papers.
Each binder comes with a pull out, sliding metal hanging rod so that one can store the folders hanging in a filing cabinet. They hang neatly and securely.
When not in use, the metal rods slide in and the binder is an ordinary soft one that I can carry around with me.
The rings lock and there are no gaps in them. Papers easily flip back and forth with no annoying snagging. I find the unlocking mechanism to be just a touch tough to use but that is because I am a wimp, I think. I have to give it some hefty pressure to unlock the rings. Locking, however, is super easy.
The binders come with a white label on the binding where I can note what that contents are. The one thing I did notice is that, if I change the contents, I have to find a new label to place over the original one to change the info. It would be better to have a plastic overlay where one could slide in a label and slide it out and change it as needed.
Overall, the Avery Hanging File Binder 3 Ring 1" Binder works great for me. I like that I can store the binders hanging in my filing cabinet and that I can also use them as traditional, non hanging binders if I want. They're a little bit flimsy feeling but definitely protect the contents and do their job well. I haven't really had any issues at all. They keep my stuff in order out of the way.
They seem to be quite durable. Although they are thin, the plastic doesn't fold or crack - at least not in the time I have owned them. I have used similar binders from Avery that didn't hang and they held up just fine to my abuse.
I bought 12 assorted colors of these binders but one costs between $5.00 and $6.00. Buying by the case is more cost effective. These binders are sold at any office supply store on and offline.
Although the Avery Hanging File Binder 3 Ring Binder is not a hard binder but rather a flexible, thin one, it works just fine for my use. It holds plenty of sheets of paper, hangs well without any issues, and the hanging rod can be pushed in and out of the way to use the binder as a non-hanging one. The rings are gap free and papers turn fine without snagging. I give these 4 stars. They do their job well.
