Pros: oh so many

Cons: seat belt does not remove to wash, vinyl underseat doesn't hold up

The Bottom Line: features worthy of a higher price

I was looking to spend only a little bit of money on a high chair. I had this mindset because after two kids already I learned I hate high chairs so only want them for a minimum amount of time. I did know I wanted a removable cloth seat though, the vinyl ones rip and are hard to clean. I tried an Evenflo but it was a pain to put together and didn't even work when I did get it together. This was the only other cloth seat under $100 so I bought it. I am not a fan of Baby Trend strollers so my expectations were not high. Boy was I wrong.

First thing, it was fully assembled out of the box. Attach seat pad and we are ready to go. My daughter was only a couple months old but I wanted to use it so she had somewhere to sit while I cleaned the kitchen but was up higher than her bouncy seat so I could talk to her. This high chair has 4 recline positions. The lowest is not flat but more recline than an infant carseat or bouncy seat. It easily reclines just like a stroller, with the squeeze of a handle. It also reclines just like a stroller in that only the seat back goes down, the bottom stays put unlike other high chairs where the whole seat tips. The sides curve upward to offer nice support and the fluffy seatpad offers the rest. The seatpad is also reversble and washable. We have had it almost 2 years including at times 2 or more times a week washing and the seat is still going strong, softer actually. Under the seatpad is an additional, removable vinyl pad that was nice when the cloth was in the wash. However it ripped so is garbage now. There is a nice crotch bar that supports but isn't so big it gets in the way. There are 6 height adjustments so you can adjust to sit at the kitchen table. The tray infinitely adjusts and goes on very easily one handed. It isn't huge to again get in the way but it is still a good enough size. The tray has a lip all the way around the catch spills and an indent for holding a jar in place. I love that the tray stays upright when the seat reclines. It includes a dishwasher safe pop on tray cover that I love because it does actually fit in our dishwasher (my sister's Fisher Price does not). There are rubber pegs on the back of the legs to hang the tray securely but easily on when not in use or when folded. I stored the tray there while we only used it reclined during early infancy, not for eating. With the push of a button on each side the frame folds, including the seat tilting and a flip up footrest for optimal space saving. I have thrown it in the back of my minivan with the stroller easily. It does have a 5 pt safety harness. This is my one complaint, the harness is not fully removable so cannot be tossed in the washer. The part I was able to remove cracked in the washer.

This high chair does not come with any fancy toys, only all the features you need for feeding and convenience. I did use a Tiny Love Take Along Activity Arch on it for baby to play with when they sat there reclined while I cleaned the kitchen though.

As for durability, it is nice sturdy plastic and steel, aside from the vinyl underpad problem this thing is much more durable than other high chairs I have used. Seems very similiar to the pricer models by Peg Perego or Chicco.

update 8/09-Yes I am still using this, the 3rd child to use it, I still love the easy recline and tray and it has held up beautifully.  However the longer I used it the more cons there were.  1st we got a new dishwasher, the tray cover doesn't fit in the new one so it seems a waste, either way I have to wash something in the sink.  Next the vinyl underpad has long since ripped and had to be tossed.  The pad is still going strong but has bunched after about 100 or more washings.  The lack of a seatbelt (read about the cracking in the wash) I was able to solve somewhat.  It has holes in the back of the seat (drainage?  who knows) which i ran just a buckle strap through.  It ends up just being a waist strap but it slows her down enough that I can grab her.  My last complaint is the folding footrest.  It has the hinged area where it flips up, that creates a crack that crumbs collect in.  You can't easily get the crumbs out, even with the vacuum it was hard.  I usually am able to get the last of them out with the running water from a hose.  I have opted to go with something easier to clean and smaller now that my youngest is 1.  We are now using a restaurant style high chair, under $50 from Amazon.  But this one is being passed down to my new niece.  It is still nice for small babies and my sister only will have the 2 kids so maybe more time to deal with the cleaning.  It has been used continuously since 2005.  My daughter used it from 2 mo old until she was almost 2 when her brother started using it, he used it until he was almost 2 when his sister started using it.  So I would still say it is pretty structurally sturdy.  It is just the additional parts that aren't as sturdy.
